World’s First 75-Inch Color E-Paper Advertising Display Launches at Taoyuan Airport, Setting New Benchmark for Low-Carbon Display Technology

On June 1, 2026, E Ink Holdings announced the official debut of the world’s first 75-inch color ePaper advertising display in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Powered by E Ink Kaleido™ 3 color ePaper technology, this deployment marks the first large-scale application of color ePaper media in an international hub airport, establishing a new global benchmark for low-carbon digital transformation across transportation hubs.

Ultra-Low Power Design Advances Low-Carbon Airport Infrastructure

Against a backdrop of rising global energy demand and surging power consumption driven by AI computing, enterprises and public facilities worldwide are actively working toward the 2050 net-zero emissions goal while seeking more energy-efficient infrastructure solutions. The core advantage of ePaper technology lies in its bistable property: it consumes virtually no power when displaying static images and only requires a small amount of energy during content refreshes, drastically reducing overall energy use and carbon emissions.
The 75-inch ePaper display installed at Taoyuan Airport can run for extended periods without a continuous grid connection, lowering wiring construction costs and long-term operational expenses. Its cable-free design also enables faster, more flexible installation, minimizing construction disruption to normal airport operations. For high-traffic transportation hubs, this offers a digital media solution highly aligned with sustainable development targets.

Paper-Like Visual Experience Redefines Out-of-Home Media

The new-generation 75-inch E Ink Kaleido™ color ePaper display delivers a paper-like viewing experience with excellent ambient light visibility, free from backlight glare and visual fatigue during prolonged viewing. It also supports animation and video playback, striking a strong balance between visual impact and energy efficiency and opening new possibilities for digital out-of-home (DOOH) media development.
JM Hung, President of E Ink Holdings, stated: “As the world faces energy transition and rapidly growing power demand driven by AI, the importance of ultra-low-power display technology will continue to rise. With its near-zero-power static display capability, ePaper helps enterprises and public spaces effectively reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. Moving forward, E Ink will continue to work with global partners to advance smart transportation, smart cities, and sustainable media applications.”
For this project, E Ink provides the display technology, DynaScan Technology handles hardware system integration, and OMNI Media manages advertising media operations. The three parties have jointly built a next-generation airport media platform that integrates sustainability, digital innovation, and commercial advertising value.

E-Paper Application Scenarios Continue to Expand

From large-scale airport advertising screens to retail electronic shelf labels and consumer-grade passive NFC ePaper products, ePaper technology is expanding beyond commercial scenarios into more everyday use cases, driven by its zero static power consumption, paper-like reading experience, and maintenance-free features. As low-carbon concepts gain broader adoption and technology costs decline, ePaper is positioned to become a green alternative to traditional emissive displays in more public spaces and residential settings.
